Growth Properties of Roach (Rutilus rutilus L., 1758) in Seyhan Dam Lake (Adana)

The study was conducted in Seyhan Dam Lake, Adana (April 2004 to March 2005). These factors included the length and sex distributions, age-lenght, weight, relationship, and condition factor according age and sex group of 157 roach taken from Seyhan Dam Lake. The dam lake had I-IV age groups with the dominant yer class (59.86%). The percentages of males/females in the population were 52.23%, 47.77% and 52.23% respectively. Rutilus rutilus’s fork length distribution was between 13.5 cm to 24 cm. The females weighed 34.41 g. and 260.4 g. While the males had W= 0.0894xL2.3521, and W=0.0293xL2.747 for all individuals, the growth equations for the females were W=0.0055xL3.318. Rutilus rutilus had an average condition factor of 1.404 +-0.26 in females and 1.472 +0.24 in males.
